Jan 23, 2018 - I'm setting up a new Windows 10 computer, currently at 1709 Build 16299.192. It is unable to connect to a Server 2012R2 machine running. Fix: Your Computer Can’t Connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway Server. If the issue is with your Computer or a Laptop you should try using Reimage Plus which can scan the repositories and replace corrupt and missing files. This works in most cases, where the issue is.
New-Object System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient).Connect(‘rdpservername1’, 3389)If port 3389 is unavailable, you should check that Remote Connections is enabled on the remote server (right click on Start button System Remote settings Allow remote connections to this computer). If Remote Desktop is enabled, next you should check the setting, which determines the maximum number of simultaneous connections to a Remote Desktop. Open tsadmin.msc mmc snap-in (Administrative tools Remote Desktop Services Remote desktop Session Host Configuration). Click on RDP-TCP properties and check the value of Maximum connections property in Network Adapter tab.Use the netstat command to verify if TCP port 3389 is in Listening state. Open a command prompt as administrator and execute the command: netstat -a -o find 'LIST'As you can see, in our example, port 3389 is listening.TCP 0.0.0.0:3389 DESKTOP-JOPF9:0 LISTENING 1096In some cases, the administrator can change the default RDP port from 3389 to something else (although this is not recommended by Microsoft). To check the current port on which the Remote Desktop service is listening on the computer, open the registry editor and go to the registry key:HKEYLOCALMACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlTerminal ServerWinStationsRDP-TcpNote the value of the PortNumber REGDWORD parameter. It indicates the current TCP port assigned to the RDP service.
In our example, this is 3389 (d3d hexadecimal value).
The below fix will also correct this error message:'Your computer can't connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway Server. Contact your network administrator for assistance.' This fix is especially helpful for Windows 7 users. It's also easiest to download the.reg file and run it.1.
Right-click your Start button and choose 'Run' (or press the Windows key + R)2. In the Run window type regedit and press OK3. Browse to the following key: HKEYCURRENTUSERSoftwareMicrosoftTerminal Server Client4. Highlight/select the 'Terminal Server Client' key/folder5. On the right hand side, right-click an empty area and choose New DWORD (32-bit) Value6. Name it: RDGClientTransport and give it a value of 17.
Press OK, exit the Registry Editor and try logging into the serverAlternatively you may download the attached file named 'RegistryRDGClientTransport.reg' and merge it into your computer's registry.
